"pluck at" in Japanese
つまむ引っ張る
Definition
服や楽器の弦などを指で軽く何度も引っ張ること。注目を集めたり、緊張を表したりする時にも使う。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
小さい子供が親の袖をpluck atするなど、緊張や注意を引くジェスチャーに使う。『pluck』（引き抜く）とは意味が異なる。よく使われる表現: 'pluck at strings', 'pluck at someone's sleeve'.
