動きや進み方が遅くて重苦しく、活気が感じられないこと。物語や作業が退屈で進みが悪い場合にも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

人の歩き方や仕事・話の進み方が遅く、単調で退屈な印象のときに使います。「plodding pace」（のろのろしたペース）、「plodding narrative」（退屈な話）などによく使われます。
