責任を回避したり、困難から逃げたり、人を笑わせるためにわざとバカなふりをすること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
多くの場合、ふざけている、注意をそらすなど意図的に使われる。'play the fool' は本当に愚かという意味ではない。例：'ふざけるのはやめて'。
