এটি নির্দেশনা বা নির্দেশনামূলক বাক্যে সাধারণত ব্যবহৃত হয়—'place X under Y' মানে X-কে Y-র নিচে রাখুন। 'put under' বা 'placed under' এর তুলনায় এটি বেশি আনুষ্ঠানিক। সাধারণত রূপক অর্থে ব্যবহার হয় না।
