"petitions" in Korean
Definition
권위 기관에 변화를 요구하거나 행동을 요청하기 위해 여러 사람이 서명하여 공식적으로 제출하는 문서. 법원에 제출하는 공식 문서를 뜻하기도 한다.

주로 공식적이거나 법적 상황에서 사용됨. ‘청원서를 제출하다’, ‘청원서에 서명하다’ 등으로 쓸 수 있고, 'application'은 무언가를 받기 위함이지만 'petition'은 변화를 요구하는 데 사용됨.
