人種や宗教、信念のために、誰かを繰り返し不当に扱ったり苦しめたりすること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
人権や歴史に関する正式な話題で使われることが多いです。「for their beliefs」など原因を示す言葉とよく一緒に使われます。「prosecute」（起訴する）とは意味が違います。
