對做錯事或犯罪感到或表現出懊悔；'penitent' 也指表達真誠懺悔的人。
Usage Notes (Chinese (Traditional))
正式、文學用詞，日常較少用。宗教場閤中常指懺悔、求赦的人。常與 'penitent look'（懊悔的神情）、'penitent heart'（懊悔之心）連用。'repentant' 與其意義相近，但更常用。
