Definition

酸化とは、物質が酸素と結びついたり、電子を失ったりする化学変化で、鉄のサビや色の変化などが起こります。

主に科学や技術、学術分野で使われます。「さびる」「鉄」「反応」などとよく一緒に使います。「酸素化」（単に酸素を加えること）とは区別してください。

Oxidation causes iron to rust.

鉄は**酸化**してさびます。

Apple slices turn brown because of oxidation.
