Definition

何かを隠さず、はっきりと公に行うこと。秘密にせずに行われる場合に使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にフォーマルで書き言葉に使われ、否定的や議論を呼ぶ行為に使われることが多い（例：「overtly hostile」）。日常会話にはほとんど使われません。「openly」とはニュアンスが違います。
