実用的ではなく、美しさや飾りとして使われるものによく使われる表現です。多くは植物や物、デザインなどに使います。

フォーマルまたは中立的な場面で使い、主に「ornamental plants」や「ornamental objects」などと合わせます。人には使いません。「ornament」（飾り）とは区別。
