ある事に反対したり、同意しないことを表します。また、二つの異なるものを比較して対照を示すときにも使います。

フォーマルまたは中立的な表現で、「am/is/are」の後によく使います。「opposite to」と混同しないよう注意してください（物理的な反対を意味します）。
