Kişinin ya da bir vücut parçasının soğuk, şok veya kuvvetli duygular sonucu his kaybetmesi durumudur.

Hem fiziksel anlamda (soğuk ya da anestezi sonrası), hem de duygusal anlamda (şok, travma sonrası) kullanılır. Genelde edilgen cümlelerde ('Numbed by...') görülür.
