人をある役職や賞などの候補として正式に推薦したり選んだりすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

選挙や受賞などフォーマルな場面で使います。「○○を大統領に指名する」「オスカーに推薦する」など。日常的な招待（invite）には使いません。

Examples

The company nominates one employee for the award each year.

会社は毎年1人の従業員を賞に**推薦する**。

She nominates her friend for class president.
