‘돌연변이’는 유전자 변이로 인해 원래와는 다르게 변한 생명체를 말합니다. 만화나 SF에서 특별한 능력을 가진 존재를 뜻하기도 합니다.

실제 유전적 변화에 대한 과학적 용어로도 쓰이지만, 만화나 영화 등에서 초능력자 집단을 가리킬 때 더 자주 사용됩니다. 실제 사람에게 사용하면 예의에 어긋날 수 있습니다.
