Definition

死体から水分を取り除き、化学薬品や自然な方法で処理して腐敗を防ぐ保存方法。何かがミイラのように乾燥することも指す。

主に古代エジプトなどの埋葬習慣について使われますが、ものがカラカラに乾いている場合の比喩にも用いられます。フォーマル・学術的な表現です。
