중얼거리다

입을 크게 벌리지 않고 잘 들리지 않게 조용히 말하는 것. 보통 긴장하거나 수줍을 때 사용한다.

주로 비공식적인 상황에서 쓰입니다. 'mumble something', 'mumble to yourself' 같은 표현에 자주 등장합니다. 보통 수줍음, 불확실함, 짜증을 의미합니다. 'murmur'(더 부드럽고 애정 있는 소리)와 혼동하지 마세요.
