자동차와 트럭이 빠른 속도로 장거리 이동할 수 있도록 만들어진 넓은 도로입니다. 보통 여러 차선이 있고 신호등이나 교차로가 없습니다.

‘Motorways’는 영국식 영어에서 주로 쓰이며, 미국식 영어에서는 ‘highways’ 또는 ‘freeways’라고 합니다. 도심 도로에는 사용하지 않습니다.
