自動車専用の複数車線を持つ広い道路で、通常交差点がなく、長距離移動のために使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

英語の“motorway”は主にイギリス英語で使われ、アメリカ英語では“highway”や“freeway”が用いられます。標識や公式な場面で使われ、普通の道路には使いません。
