상대방이 화나거나 속상할 때 말이나 행동으로 기분을 달래주는 것.

격식 있거나 글에서 자주 쓰입니다. '누구의 화를 달래다/진정시키다'처럼 감정에 많이 씁니다. 사물이나 상황에는 잘 사용하지 않습니다.
