يستخدم "moisten" بأسلوب رسمي أو محايد خاصة في تعليمات الطهي والتنظيف والعناية بالبشرة. من العبارات الشائعة: 'moisten a cloth', 'moisten your lips', 'moisten the soil'. لا تخلطها مع 'wet' التي تعني بلل الشيء بالكامل.
