全体の中の独立した部分や単位のことで、教育や技術、建築などで互いに連携したり、組み合わせたりできるもの。

教育や技術など専門的な分野で使われることが多いです。「course modules」は科目ごとの単元、「software modules」はソフトの部品を指します。単なる「部品」や「ピース」とは異なり、独立性があります。
