"middle" in Japanese

Definition

物の両端や外側から等しい距離にある部分、中央のこと。また、2つの物や時間の間の位置にも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

普通は名詞（例：'in the middle'）ですが、形容詞（'middle child'）としても使われます。「in the middle of」「middle of the night」「middle school」などよく使われます。'average'の意味には使いません。その場合は'medium'を使います。
