死ぬこと。特にある状況で、または危険なことや劇的な出来事の結果として死ぬこと。

フォーマルで文学的な表現。物語やニュース、悲劇的・英雄的な死について使われることが多い。日常会話ではあまり使われず、 'die' より遠回しな言い方。
