手やオイル・ローションなどを使って、筋肉や体をもみほぐしてリラックスさせたり、痛みを和らげたりすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に身体のリラクゼーションや治療に使われます。体の部位と一緒によく使われ、受け身形（例: 『マッサージされた』）も多いです。比喩でデータ操作の意味にも使われることがありますが、ほとんどは本来の意味です。
