Esperar sem fazer progresso ou sem realizar nada importante, geralmente enquanto se espera que algo aconteça.

Normalmente informal, usado para dizer que alguém está esperando ou sem progresso. Pode significar literalmente marchar parado (militar) ou, mais comum, ficar sem avançar em algo.
