'longstanding' সাধারণত একসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয় 'longstanding tradition', 'longstanding problem', 'longstanding friendship' ইত্যাদির সাথে। এটি সরাসরি বস্তু বা জিনিসের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয় না; সেসব ক্ষেত্রে 'old' বা 'ancient' ব্যবহার করা হয়।
