Definition

নদী বা উপকূল বরাবর বানানো দীর্ঘ দেওয়াল বা বাঁধ, যা প্লাবন ঠেকাতে পানিকে আটকে রাখে।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

'Levees' সাধারণত বন্যা প্রতিরোধে ব্যবহৃত হয়; 'break the levees', 'levee system', 'strengthen levees'—এই ধরনের বাক্যে প্রচলিত। UK-তে 'dyke' শব্দটি ব্যবহৃত হলেও, তা সবসময় বাঁধ বোঝায় না।
