Definition

誰かの間違いや行動について長々とまじめに説教やお説教をすること。会話よりも教師のような話し方で使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「lecture for」はカジュアルでやや否定的、教師のように上から指摘する感じ。よく「lecture for being late」などと使う。「give a lecture」（授業を行う）とは別なので注意。

My mom lectured me for not cleaning my room.

お母さんに部屋を片付けなかったことで**説教された**。

The teacher lectured us for talking in class.
