خداع شخص عن عمد وجعله يصدق شيئاً غير صحيح، غالباً بإعطائه معلومات أو آمال كاذبة.

هذا تعبير اصطلاحي بريطاني غير رسمي، يُستخدم عند وصف شخص تم خداعه أو تضليله، غالباً عبر منح آمال كاذبة. يستخدم بشكل أقل في الإنجليزية الأمريكية ويمكن استبداله بـ 'يخدع' أو 'يضلل'.
