動物が舌で液体をなめて飲むこと。または、褒め言葉や注目を喜んで受け入れること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
動物の飲み方や、人が賞賛や注目をとても嬉しそうに受け入れる時に使う。直訳＋比喩表現があり、「lap up the praise」で褒め言葉が大好きな意味。
