掃除や料理、整理など家庭の仕事を管理すること。主な責任として家を切り盛りする意味でよく使われる。

やや古風または形式的な表現。最近は「家事をする」「家を切り盛りする」がよく使われる。家の所有ではなく家事の管理を指す。
