特に戦時中に、人を自由に動けないよう施設などに閉じ込めることを指します。主に軍事や政治的な理由で行われます。

主に戦争や歴史、政治に関する文脈で使われます。「インターン（研修生）」とは異なる意味です。『キャンプに抑留された』などがよく使われる表現です。
