आमतौर पर नकारात्मक या अवांछित हस्तक्षेप के लिए उपयोग होता है। प्रायः योजनाओं, प्रक्रियाओं या उपकरणों के लिए ('interfere with plans')। सकारात्मक मदद के लिए नहीं कहते। 'मेस करना' की तुलना में ज्यादा औपचारिक है।
