Definition

ある役職や地位に正式に就任させること。多くの場合、儀式を伴いその人がその役職にあることを公式に発表する。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

政治、学術、組織などフォーマルな場面で使われます。「〜に就任する」「〜として就任する」といった表現で、日常的なアルバイトやカジュアルな役職では用いません。受動態「was inaugurated as〜」がよく使われます。
