在沒有準備的情況下即興創作或表演，通常是在某個主題、想法或樂曲的基礎上發揮。

常用於音樂（如「即興發揮某個主題」）、戲劇或演講。強調在既有題材基礎上發揮，不是從零創造。比單用「improvise」正式。常接「主題」「旋律」等。不適用於日常生活的隨機應變。
