주로 실제 최면에 걸린 경우(치료, 공연 등)에 쓰이나, 무언가에 완전히 몰입해서 주변을 인식하지 못하는 비유적 의미로도 많이 씁니다('hypnotised by the music'처럼). 의료 진단 용어로는 사용하지 않습니다.
