Definition

多くの人や動物が一緒に押し寄せ、制御できずに動く様子を表す言葉です。騒然とした、手に負えない集団にも使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

やや否定的・ドラマチックなニュアンスがあります。“a horde of fans”「ファンの大群」など圧倒的、制御できない集団に使います。小規模や穏やかな集団には使いません。
