누구나 무엇을 칭찬하거나 보여주기 위해 예로 들어 제시하는 것.

주로 공식적이거나 글에서 많이 쓰임. 좋은 예나 모범을 들 때 사용. 드물게 비판적으로도 쓸 수 있음.

Our teacher holds up Mary as a good student.
