생각, 약속, 규칙 등을 어려운 상황에서도 끝까지 지키거나 고수하는 것.

주로 공식적 또는 반공식적 상황에서 사용됨. 'hold to a promise', 'hold to a belief' 등과 같이 강한 의지나 어려움이 내포됨. 물리적 의미에는 사용하지 않음.

She always holds to her promises.

그녀는 항상 자신의 약속을 **지킨다**.
