推迟做某事，或让某人等一等再开始或采取行动。也可以指暂时阻止某事发生。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Simplified))

非正式表达，经常与 'on' 连用（如 hold off on something）。常用于推迟决策或行动，等待更好的时机。不表示“拿住”物理动作。有别于 put off，hold off 有时带有抵抗的意味。
