推迟做某事,或让某人等一等再开始或采取行动。也可以指暂时阻止某事发生。
Usage Notes (Chinese (Simplified))
非正式表达,经常与 'on' 连用(如 hold off on something)。常用于推迟决策或行动,等待更好的时机。不表示“拿住”物理动作。有别于 put off,hold off 有时带有抵抗的意味。
