鋲（びょう）靴鋲

Definition

重い靴やブーツの底を補強するためにつける、短くて頭の大きい鉄や鋼鉄のくぎ。

主に昔の登山靴や軍靴などで使われていました。現代の日常会話ではほとんど使われず、歴史や靴作りの話題で見かけます。

The worker's boots had hobnails on the soles for extra grip.
