「helms」は「helm」の複数形で、船の舵や、何かを指揮・管理する立場を指します。

「helms」は船の文脈や、比喩としてリーダーシップに使われます。日常会話ではあまり使われず、普通は「helm」や「at the helm」という表現が多く使われます。動詞としても使われることがあります（例: she helms）。

The sailors took their places at the helms of their boats.
