أن تحقق أكبر فائدة من موقف ما أو تتفوّق على الآخرين؛ غالبًا تعني الفوز أو أن تكون في وضع مريح.

يستخدم غالبًا في سياق غير رسمي أو منافسات وأحيانًا في العلاقات. لا تخلط مع 'make the best of' التي تعني التعامل الإيجابي مع وضع سيء.
