体操をする人たちのことで、跳びやバランスの技などの運動をして、鉄棒や平均台などの器具を使うことが多いです。

「体操選手」は男女どちらにも使えますが、性別を区別したいときは「男子体操選手」「女子体操選手」と言います。主にスポーツやオリンピックの文脈で使われます。
