二つ以上のものを溶かしたり混ぜたりして一つにまとめること。物質や考え方にも使われます。

科学、工学、美術（特にガラス工芸）などでよく使います。比喩的に「スタイルやアイデアを融合する」場面にも使えます。「mixing」より一体化や新しいものの誕生が強調されます。
