'Fumble for' é informal, normalmente usado quando alguém está nervoso, no escuro ou procura algo rapidamente e sem jeito. Muito comum com 'keys', 'phone' ou até 'words' ('fumble for words' = hesitar ao falar). Não serve para buscas metódicas.
