একটি ভবনকে সমর্থন করার জন্য বানানো শক্ত ঘাঁটি বা কোনো বিষয়ের মূল নীতিমালা বা ধারণা।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

'ভিত' সাধারণত ভবনের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। তত্ত্বগত বা ধারণাগত অর্থে 'ভিত্তি' ব্যবহার হয়, যেমন 'গণতন্ত্রের ভিত্তি'। 'Lay the foundations for' করলে ভবিষ্যতের জন্য প্রস্তুতি বোঝায়।
