'flushes the toilet' ifadesi tuvaletin sifonunu çekmek anlamında; 'hot flushes' ise genellikle menopoz veya heyecanla yüzün ateş basması için kullanılır. 'flushes' ve 'blushes' (utangaçlık kaynaklı kızarma) karıştırılmamalı.
