Moveu-se ou permaneceu na superfície de um líquido sem afundar. Também pode significar mover-se suavemente pelo ar ou espalhar-se de modo leve.

Geralmente usado para objetos ou pessoas na água, mas também para coisas que se movem suavemente no ar, como 'a balloon floated away'. É o passado de 'float'. Combinações comuns: 'floated on the water', 'floated through the room'. Pode ser literal ou metafórico.
