Decidir oficialmente em um tribunal que alguém não cometeu o crime do qual foi acusado.

Expressão formal, jurídica, usada em tribunais, geralmente como veredito: 'O júri o considerou inocente.' Não significa necessariamente inocente, mas sim falta de provas. Não é usada em conversas cotidianas fora do âmbito legal.
